The Aphasia Cafe — Poetry Reading by Dr. Dawn McGuire
Neurologist and poet, Dr. Dawn McGuire, read from her recently published book, The Aphasia Cafe, on Friday, June 15th. This remarkable physician combines art and science into poems that capture many aspects of aphasia. This event was held at the Downtown Oakland Senior Center in Oakland, CA. A special bonus to this event was Dr. Roberta Elman’s interview of Bill Wong, a stroke survivor and Aphasia Center participant. Dr. Elman and Bill explored many of the real life challenges of living with aphasia. This was definitely an inspiring afternoon!
